    1. What’s your favorite part of your job? I like the creative elements of working with clients from the concept stage through building their house and seeing a design come to life!
    2. How did you get started with MHB? Jeff hired Dawn and I at the same time. Dawn was to handle all of the office stuff, and I was to create a new position that Musser had never had before. It wasn’t called a Decorating Consultant back then, but I worked with clients on their interior layouts, finishes, functional spacing, and their selections. It was a new position, so it flexed many different directions, and my first week on the job, I was put in the field to be the foreman on a bathroom remodel. That was how Jeff liked to train people. Trial by fire.
    3. What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know? We lived in Germany for a year back in 2010 while my husband, Mike, worked on a joint forces task force. We did not live on an American base but in a small German town near Stuttgart Airport. We had to rent a German house, shop in German grocery stores, and my kids went to German school. We traveled every weekend that we lived in Germany and were able to visit 13 different countries. It was challenging and rewarding at the same time.
    4. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Some place I have never been. I always want a new spot to see what adventure awaits in the unknown.

Our values and my experience and dream aligned with Musser Home Builders, so Jeff and Beth offered me a job.
    3. What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know? I was a classically trained pianist beginning at age 5 through age 15 when my teacher had to retire to care for her sick husband. By age 15 I was beginning to accompany a local church choir.

    Rachel Cavallaro
    Designer
Originally from Maine, Rachel has a degree in Industrial and Innovative design. Rachel has had a passion for home design since she was eight years old and is thankful to be growing her career as part of the Musser team.
    1. What’s your favorite part of your job? My favorite part of my job is meeting new clients, hearing about their lives, goals, and dreams, then designing their home from the ground up to be functional and unique just for them! Nothing gets my creative juices flowing like starting a new Concept Plan!
    2. How did you get started with MHB? When I was a kid, I LOVED the show “Extreme Home Makeover”! I can distinctly remember watching this one episode when they redesigned a home for a family who had a kid that was in a wheelchair. That episode is cemented in my head to this day and ignited my love for home design. Throughout elementary and middle school my favorite activity was designing homes on our computer or on paper and pretending I knew the family that would live in them one day. In college for my senior capstone, I got to work with a family from my local church who had two kids diagnosed with a rare nerve degenerative disease, that confined them to wheelchairs. My university connected me with a previous student from my school to mentor as I worked on my capstone project. Tyler Hagey, a former Musser employee and the son-in-law of Jeff Musser, mentored me as I prepared my capstone. Through the process, I learned Musser was the home builder tasked with designing and building the home for the exact episode of Extreme Home Makeover that had been inspiring my career choice for years! Tyler connected me with the Musser Team and a few months later I moved to Dillsburg, PA to start working for Musser as a Designer. Almost 3 years later I still get excited for every new home or renovation I start on and remember how little Rachel had always dreamed of designing homes for real people one day.
    3. What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know? I’ve been playing violin since I was 8 and specifically love playing Swedish folk music! I grew up in Northern Maine in a heavily Swedish community and participated in many Swedish festivals as a violinist. My favorite was the Midsummer festival. We would dress in traditional Swedish attire, make flower crowns, and fiddle as local children would dance around a maypole.
    4. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? I’ve always wanted to visit Hawaii, and tour Europe!
