Smoke Detectors

Featured on ABC27 You Can Do It

Every year about 2500 people lose their lives in house fires. About two-thirds of those deaths occur in homes that do not have working smoke detectors. Smoke detectors save lives!

Many fire companies will donate battery powered smoke detectors. They are easy to install and work great. Hard-wired and interconnected smoke detectors are even better, but retrofitting a home can be difficult. They need to be located in each bedroom and in each hallway.

Your smoke detectors should be tested frequently and the batteries should be replaced annually. To test, simply push the “test” button and wait for the alarm! If it does not work, start with replacing the battery. If it still does not work, replace the entire smoke detector.

In case of a fire, your safety is very important. Simply installing and maintaining smoke detectors could save your life and You Can Do It!
